DIY Moisturizing Lotion Bar

These moisturizing lotion bars work wonders for those dry hands, elbows and feet. These natural lotion bars will sooth your dry skin and nourish it. These are a great to always have on hand.

Ingredients:

2/3 cup Beeswax

1/2 cup coconut oil

1/2 cup cocoa butter

1 tsp. vitamin E oil

10-20 drops of skin safe essential oil

Instructions:

Place all the ingredients (except the essential oil) into a heat safe glass container. I used a glass measuring cup. Boil approximately 2-4 inches of water in a skillet.

Place the glass container in the skillet. This will start to melt the ingredients together. Once your ingredients are all melted together. Remove the glass container carefully from the skillet and allow it to cool for a few minutes, then add your essential oil and mix well.

Now it’s time to pour or dispense the mixture into your silicone mold. Let it cool completely, a few hours should do. Then remove from the mold and store in a container till you are ready to use.

When I make these for myself, I cut the recipe in 1/2 sometimes 1/4, so that I can customize each batch with the essential oils that I need. For example when I was pregnant I used Myrrh in my lotion bar to rub on my growing belly. Dry elbows I use oils that are good for the skin, like Frankincense, Lavender, Melaleuca.   During winter time I use citrus essential oils. And sometimes I make my lotion bars unscented. The possibilities are endless.

Important essential oil information: Not all essential oils are created equal. Before you follow instructions from my blog, please understand essential oils and how to use them safely. When making these lotion bars to give as gifts, please advise the person you are gifting to what essential oils you used along with the other ingredients. Some of our loved ones may have a skin sensitivity or allergy that we may not be aware of.
