BUNCO! The best therapy for moms
If there is one thing I look forward to every month, it would be bunco night. There is just something so refreshing about 12 women coming together to eat, yell, roll dice and win prizes. In 2015 I was invited to become a member of the monthly bunco club that was formed in our subdivision about 8 years ago. I had no idea how to play the game but I wanted to get out of the house and meet new people.
My first game was amazing. It is a fast passed dice game where you play with a partner and as a team you try to reach 21 (Bunco) before anyone else. It was so much fun. I was so focused on trying to remember my what my score was for each round I was not able to hold a conversation with anyone. But some of the well seasoned bunco players, were able to talk about there day and count at the same time. I was so amazed. Even today having played for 3 years, I can’t talk and count at the same time.
How they had it set up was that each of the 12 members would take turns hosting bunco at their home. As the hostess you would offer a light meal, snacks and 12 prizes. Each member pays $10/month to help cover the cost of food and prizes.
This is my month to be the hostess and I am super excited. I’m making chicken tostadas with cheesecake for desert. I was going to make a pie to celebrate PI day, but I changed my mind. For one of the snacks I am making some mint Oreo truffles. I will be using my doTERRA peppermint essential oil to flavor the outside chocolate coating.
But what I am most excited about are the prizes! This year I chose to focus my prizes around relaxation and aromatherapy. The prizes include essential oil diffusers, aromatherapy necklaces, adult coloring book with markers or color pencil, and everyone will be getting a 5 mL bottle of Wild Orange.

If you are not familiar with how to play bunco, as there are several different versions of the game out there. You can read about how to play from here. The only difference is that when we play we don’t have a head table. The first table to reach BUNCO ends the round and then we start playing again. I like it this way, it makes things move very quickly.
We meet at 7pm for dinner and start playing at 7:30 then end at 8:45 to start handing out the prizes. In that short amount of time of playing Bunco we are often able to get through 9 games. As I searched the internet for printable bunco score sheets, I could not find one that would meet our needs. So I created one just for our group. If you would like to our Bunco score you are welcome to it. Download free Bunco score sheet here.
